PRODUCT USE SmartCoat High-Build Satin Sheen and
SmartCoat Exterior Satin Sheen are ideal for new or weathered wood,
T1-11, brick, stucco, synthetic composite siding, metal, and vinyl
and aluminum siding, and other masonry surfaces. WARNING! If you scrape,
sand or remove old paint, you may release lead dust. LEAD IS TOXIC.
EXPOSURE TO LEAD DUST CAN CAUSE SERIOUS ILLNESS, SUCH AS BRAIN DAMAGE,
ESPECIALLY IN CHILDREN. PREGNANT WOMEN SHOULD ALSO AVOID EXPOSURE.
WEAR a NIOSH-approved respirator to control lead exposure. Clean up
carefully with a HEPA vacuum and a wet mop. Recommended protective
measures can be obtained by contacting the National Lead Information
Hotline at 1-800-424-LEAD or log on to www.epa.gov/lead.
SURFACE PREPARATION All surfaces must be dry, clean
and free of all loose paint, mildew, grease and other contaminants.
Remove bond-breaker type sealers from poured concrete by acid etching,
or clean by power washing with a strong detergent or heavy duty degreaser.
Determine most effective method.
NOTE REGARDING MILDEW A mildew resisting component
has been incorporated in this product to make its dry film mildew
resistant. However, no coating is mildew proof. Mildew growth is more
widespread in warm, moist environments. Do not apply coatings over
mildew, as it will grow through this new finish. Remove mildew by
scrubbing the surface with a mixture of four ounces of a non-ammoniated
detergent, one quart of household bleach and three quarts of water.
Allow this solution to remain on the surface for 10 - 15 minutes,
then rinse thoroughly. Repeat until mildew is completely removed.
Wear protective glasses or goggles and waterproof gloves when using
this solution. Quickly wash off mixture that touches your skin.
APPLICATION Stir thoroughly. Spray, brush, or roll
one coat of bonding agent. Spot prime as needed. Spray, brush, or
roll high build coating in one coat or multiple coats for a total
wet film thickness of 20-24 mils. Apply exterior satin coating when
color selection requires and as specified on substrates listed above.
Exterior satin is to be applied by spray, brush, or roll in one coat
or multiple coats for a total wet film thickness of 2-8 mils.
